Low Country :: Personal

I usually try to go back home to Charlotte in the spring, before my wedding season gets too busy. This year, rather than just staying at home, my parents and I decided to take a few days and take a mini road trip to Charleston and Savannah. This was my first time in both, and they were each wonderful. The food in Charleston was amazing, and the architecture and history I found fascinating. I was surprised by how different Savannah felt—it was not at all what I was expecting and really is one of the most unique cities in the country, in my opinion. The prevalence of the parks and squares (literally every two or four blocks) lent the city an almost Parisian feel. I would so recommend taking a trip to one or both of these cities if you’re looking for a quick little getaway, and when you go, please eat the following things: greek yogurt panna cotta with strawberry consomme at FIG, everything (though especially the best macaroni and cheese in existence) at cru cafe (high five to the fabulous Caitlin at Blue Moon Events for the recommendation) everything at crazy The Wreck, and the flounder at The Olde Pink House.

And yes, these were all shot on film. I have been shooting exclusively film this year for personal things. I find the last thing I want to do is digitally edit personal pictures when I have thousands of client images, so film is the perfect medium—shoot, get film back, enjoy. An amazing wedding and session coming up soon…
