When Chris and Mac booked me for their Cultural Center wedding, I was elated. From my first phone call with Chris well over a year before her wedding to then meeting with them in person and doing their engagement session in Philly, I was excited about what I knew would be a special couple and a special day. A few weeks after their booking, however, came the big news that Chicago would be hosting NATO and the G8 that weekend. As months passed, I watched as almost all my photographer friends had their couples change their dates and even saw venues ask couples to consider switching to another weekend. I kept wondering what would happen with this booking, but it became clear Chris and Mac were in it for the long haul, with Chris even being interviewed about her wedding plans by a major new outlets. As announcements and preparations for the event were released, I think we all were a little nervous, not having any idea what to expect. However, their day end up being just beautiful with almost no tourists downtown and beautiful sunny skies.
I was also able to spend the weekend with them, capturing their rehearsal and Paebaek (Korean tea ceremony) on the Friday prior to the wedding, capturing more happy tears than I think I have at any other wedding weekend! Even the hairstylist and makeup artist were drying their eyes. 🙂 The love and affection between these two and amongst them and their friends and families was so palpable and it was just a treat to capture. I hope you enjoy the images!
