I am so excited to share that this Art Institute of Chicago wedding has been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings! After spending a lot of time with Nizze & Matt engagement session in Paris, I knew Nisse and Matt’s wedding would be a lovely celebration. They were married on a very hot summer day, and held one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been a part of. Despite the number of details, everything really felt intentional and so a reflection of this art and culture-loving couple. Everything was nuanced and thoughtful, with an ethereal and artistic quality to the day. Despite having done many weddings at the Art Institute (more than any other venue), this was my first time shooting on the “old side,” and I could not wait. I love this section of the museum and find it incredibly inspirational to spend time in.
Nisse orchestrated almost a “dance” for the entrance, with the girls in beautiful ombre gowns descending the stairs with their groomsmen and crossing the stairs as a string trio played. They had lovely readings including a very sweet piece from The Velveteen Rabbit, as their friends and family looked on from the upper level of the staircase. Their reception in McKinlock Court followed, with beautiful escort cards hand-painted by Nisse’s artist mother, an amazing cake spread from Flour, and decor and design by Hilary from Estera Events and Kelly Marie from Fleur.
I could go on and on about this wedding, but will let the photos do the rest of the talking. I also photographed a lot of film at this wedding to give it more artistry and subtlety that really suited the event, and am featuring more detail photos below than I usually do as there was so much eye candy. 🙂 I hope you enjoy! Thank you, as well, to the amazing team from this day, Casey Winkleman and Sarah Parisi who photographed several of the images below.
