John Mark + Mary Kay

John Mark and Mary Kay had a lovely wedding on NYE at St. Michael’s and the Elysian/Waldorf Astoria that was equal parts beauty and whimsy! I never got around to blogging it and now that summer is here, Christmas lights seem a little out of place, but I may post it this winter. :) Due to some things running behind on the wedding day, we had less time for portraits than we had planned, and Mary Kay also wanted to do some more photos in her reception dress, this gorgeous tulle and crystal Lazaro stunner. We decided to do another shoot in March to go to some more locations and have some better weather. Mary Kay and John Mark wanted some more whimsical photos, so they brought glitter, sparklers and poppers to incorporate into the shoot—a few hours before we went out, I went to a party store and bought some industrial strength poppers which both terrifying and incredibly fun additions that harkened back to their wedding on NYE.  We also randomly were photographed by a shooter from the Tribune, a fun little cap to our day around town.

Emily + Ben

I returned this week from shoots in London and Paris and absolutely cannot wait to share them—both were just lovely, despite rain for the entire trip. A little sick of the gloom we’ve had this week in Chicago, I thought I’d share some from this shoot with Emily and Ben. Living in Bermuda, I was so happy that we finally had a dash of sun for their shoot. Emily and Ben are one of the most gorgeous couples I’ve ever worked with. But beyond that, I just had a great time hanging out with them, enjoying a shared love of avec and the Bristol and a mutual disdain for Aldo high heels. :) I absolutely cannot wait for what I think will be one of the most gorgeous weddings of the year at Galleria Marchetti this summer!

Top Knots Win

I was so excited to find out that Nick and Rebecca’s quirky engagement “portrait” placed in this year’s PDN Top Knot’s contest. Photo District News (PDN) is the top photography magazine in the industry, and their Top Knots contest recognizes work in the wedding industry. This is one of my favorite photos ever, so I was thrilled it placed. Thanks to Rebecca and Nick for being so trusting!  You can see all the wins here.

The Knot Luxury Weddings + Blog Features

Many thanks to the team at The Knot for featuring Danielle & Eric’s incredible wedding from this past September. This was featured in a special pull out luxury weddings section in the national issue.
