I am finishing up a bunch of weddings this week, and wanted to share this slideshow I made for Adam and Emily’s wedding. One of my favourites!
Earlier in the summer, I was in the planning stages of an upcoming, fabulous charity event I’m doing with hip Andersonville kid’s boutique, zozo for kids (will be blogging info about this later this week). Everything was going great with our plans, and out of the blue, I was asked if I’d be up for a rare Thursday wedding with the owner’s sister, Kara and her fiance Mike, both of whom live in L.A. I’m so thankful that karma apparently paid it forward in this instance, as I was able to be a part of a truly fantastic wedding, filled with more laughter and tears than any wedding I’ve been a part of. While I could ramble on incessantly about the people and details involved in this wedding, I’ll let the photos do the talking, as we have many for this one, all shot in downtown Chicago at at one of my favourite venues, A New Leaf.

Kara was wearing a variety of stunning estate jewelry.

Kara and Mike had a personal, lovely and emotional first look.

Stunning views from the Intercontinental.

I often say Chicago is the biggest small town. It is next to impossible to have a day in which you don’t run into someone you know, apparently even if you’re from L.A.

Aptly timed Good Humor truck…

The ceremony was funny and emotional, just like Kara and Mike.

First dance.

Mac and cheese bar from Finesse Cuisine was a hit, as were the cupcakes from always-reliable Bleeding Heart.

The girls from Toast and Jam did an awesome job. The crowd was dancing all night.

Without further ado, some more photos from Adam and Emily’s wedding. Following this, I’ll resume posting a few from each wedding, instead of these photo binges! The event was so lovely, though, and I wanted to share more photographs than usual. More weddings and engagement sessions coming soon!
And, as I mentioned before. All the vendors on this wedding did a bang up job. I’d recommend any of them:
Venue + Flowers: A New Leaf
Cake (best cake I’ve ever had!): Bittersweet on Belmont
Dress: From Brides Against Breast Cancer
Shoes: Nine West
Food: Calihan Catering

love love love

Emily’s dad gave one of the most simultaneously funny and touching speeches I’ve heard.

Emily’s mom and stepfather played and sang for several songs.

The kids at this wedding were putting the grown-ups to shame on the dancefloor!

The courtyard became a bit of a boys’ club.

I love a New Leaf. Adam and Emily did a lovely job keeping it simple, yet chic.

During the wedding I shot yesterday, the best man was chatting with me in the limo and said, “You must have some great stories about crazy wedding moments, right?” Put on the spot, I racked my brain for the tales of runaway brides, weather that put everything in disarray, or some sort of crazy brawl at the wedding. But, as I thought about it, nothing came to mind. “I’m very fortunate,” I said. “My couples are incredibly cool, laid-back and in love, and I’ve never really had any insane situations.” Adam and Emily’s wedding was no exception to my continuing streak of good wedding luck. A stunningly beautiful wedding at A New Leaf, the happiness, joy and love was so evident in their celebration that I nearly cried a few times. I was a little photo-happy at their wedding, so I decided to break their post up into two parts—one with getting ready, bridal portraits and ceremony, and later this week, you’ll see couple and group portraits and reception.
Thank you both for letting me share in the day with your friends and your incredibly lovely families. I had such a wonderful time.
