I returned this week from shoots in London and Paris and absolutely cannot wait to share them—both were just lovely, despite rain for the entire trip. A little sick of the gloom we’ve had this week in Chicago, I thought I’d share some from this shoot with Emily and Ben. Living in Bermuda, I was so happy that we finally had a dash of sun for their shoot. Emily and Ben are one of the most gorgeous couples I’ve ever worked with. But beyond that, I just had a great time hanging out with them, enjoying a shared love of avec and the Bristol and a mutual disdain for Aldo high heels. :) I absolutely cannot wait for what I think will be one of the most gorgeous weddings of the year at Galleria Marchetti this summer!
I was introduced to Kerri through an old photographer friend of mine—we both had photos in my first show at a little gallery in Bucktown several years ago—and now, several years later, I am so excited to have met such a wonderful couple via that connection! We could not have had better weather for this shoot—what a dream. Kerri was worried her pink dress would clash with all the colours, but it was the perfect choice—popping against the vibrant greens and golds we had in October. And these two were so easy to shoot—what a gorgeous couple, and I just cannot get enough of Kerri’s beautiful smile. So authentic and lovely. I cannot wait for their wedding next spring at one of my favourite venues, The Rookery.
I met Ambar at last year’s Indie Wed event (which we are so excited to be a part of again this winter!), and was immediately excited about her gregarious and charming energy. A few months after the show, I was able to meet with her and her great fiance, Mike, at my studio to chat more about their plans. We had the perfect sort of consultation—one where conversation just flows, it goes on longer that it is “supposed to,” and we end up talking a lot more about life than details of the wedding. These two are both such incredibly kind and just *bright* people, for lack of a better word. They have a certain radiance and *snap* together—very fun, happy, electric. Doesn’t hurt that Ambar also has a world-class smile (people were stopping us to tell her how beautiful it was!). I cannot wait for their wedding at Architectural Artifacts next spring!
How gorgeous is Miss Kerri here? Just love that joy. So beautiful! It has been a month chock full of shoots, as everyone tries to take advantage of the weather before our months of hibernation begin. And what an incredible month to have been shooting—the light, temperatures, goodness—wish it was like this all year. Can’t wait to share more from this shoot (one of my favourites of the year) along with many others.
It has been such a busy summer/fall for me that the blog has been a little neglected! I’m doing my best to post as many shoots from the summer/fall (quite a lot!) that I can before the season ends, which means a little taste of a still very summery session even in the midst of the very fall weather we’re experiecing here in Chicago! John Mark, Mary Kay, and I spent a delightful evening together in August, creating some beautiful images and just spending time together. John Mark and Mary Kay have a stunning home on the north side, where we spent some time talking about them, sharing a bottle of wine from the vineyard where they were engaged in the Willamette Valley, being treated to John Mark’s incredible piano skills with some Smashing Pumpkins, and even enjoying dinner at one of their favorite local spots. I had such a marvelous time with these two, and we could not have had nicer weather for their shoot, which we did around their home and at the lake. I cannot wait for what is sure to be an incredible wedding full of great style and incredible food and wine—a New Year’s bash at Saint Michael’s and the Elysian.
