I’ve lately noticed a lot of emails strangely going to SPAM, and just chatted with a prospective clients whose follow-up proposal got stuck in her SPAM folder. Another photographer friend of mine had commented that she was experiencing similar issues, and it seems to be particularly prevalent, strangely, with gmail lately.
I just wanted to post a little note to let prospective or current clients know that if you are trying to contact me and don’t get a response within 48 hours, or by Monday if it’s over the weekend, to please try again or give me a ring, as I will certainly respond to all phone calls. I write to all inquiries, even if I am booked on your date. If you are a current client and are waiting for me to get back to you about an album or other information, please also feel free to contact me if you might be concerned that I didn’t get your email. I always respond to messages, and even if I can’t get a thorough response back right away, I will always send you a note to let you know when I will respond in more detail.
And just so this isn’t an all-business email, here is a lovely image from Autumn and Brian’s recent wedding. This was shot on film, and I absolutely love it. I’ll elaborate more on my thoughts on film in their full wedding post, but I still believe nothing can replicate the feeling that film can provide. I have some plans for film for 2010, and after speaking with a great team of some of Chicago best’s event coordinators today, I’m even more excited for what will hopefully be hatching soon.

I love regular pie at weddings, but these take the cake (har har). How cute would these be at a “garden party” or vintage-inspired wedding? Great for a little wedding send-off gift too, or a nice alternative to a traditional favour.

So busy this week with great client meetings and finishing up things before D.C. tomorrow, but my friend sent me a link to this video today, and I had to share. Over the top and a little ridiculous, but so fun and joyful. Made me smile. Worth watching til the end.
Most people who know me know I love fashion, and while I have been extremely responsible this year with style purchases, I do take a peek at one of my favourite style sites, Gilt Groupe, most days. Gilt is a private site that features unique, higher-end designer brands at prices that are up to 70 percent off. They have several designers featured each day, and each sale only lasts 36 hours. I have always thought it would be a great resource for modern, non-traditional bridesmaid dresses at fantastic prices, and their jewelry selection also makes for lovely gifts and modern bridal jewelry. You’d have to be very quick to snatch up a few dresses for your maids, but if you have just 2 or 3 to create a look for, it could be a wonderful resource.
Again, selection changes literally every day and pieces go so quickly, but here are a few that were on the site today that I thought would be nice bridesmaids options for a chic city wedding.

Satin beaded dress by Shoshanna. Regular $450, Gilt price $168.

Brocade dress by Shoshanna. Regular $310, Gilt price $128.

Obviously this one is a little, okay, a lot, more quirky, but I think it would be so fabulous for a really clean, modern loft wedding with a super chic couple. Also fabulous for pictures. Organza Mischen dress. Regular $648, Gilt Price $248.

Nice alternative, affordable alternative to diamonds for bridal or bridemaids jewelry. White topaz earrings by Anzie. Regular $475, Gilt price $195.

A pop of colour for bridesmaids in otherwise understated dresses. Nice gift too for a maid of honor or someone else special. Blue topaz necklace by Anzie. Regular $225, Gilt price $112.
Gilt is invite-only, so you just need an invite from someone who has already received one. I have a few left; if any of my lovely clients want one, feel free to email!
The results of that little poll I ran a while ago were overwhelmingly in favour of my continuing to blog little bits of wedding inspiration that I love. I come across so many things each week that I just adore, so I decided to try to condense them into a once weekly post here. Let me know if you like reading these; hopefully it will keep the motivation up!
Seeksucker wedding invites by Ice Cream Social. A little borderline precious, but so cute. Makes me picture a wedding chock full of lemonades, vintage bikes and darling flowers, and that is a wedding I can get behind.

This dress by Kate Towers. Would be so lovely for a romantic, rustic-inspired wedding (picturing somewhere in California or a lake in Minnesota).

My neighborhood. People often ask me how I find locations, and most of it is just wandering around and seeing little spots that might otherwise go unnoticed. I’ve been trying to get into running (not going so well), and seeing as how I use my iPhone as my iPod, I end up stopping multiple times during the fun to photograph potential shoot spots. Here are a few from today.

“So Insane’ by Discovery. Can’t stop listening to this. Samples the Electric Slide, which, despite shooting many non-traditional couples, I have seen many-a-time at celebrations.
