I first met Angie and Phil back in the spring, when Angie contacted me about shooting her wedding. Unfortunately, I was unavailable, as I was shooting Aji and Michael’s fabulous wedding (which I’ll be blogging soon). However, I was so happy that she and Phil were nevertheless interested in working with me, and we were able to shoot a fabulous engagement session in Fulton Market/West Loop earlier this year, and last weekend, we did another connection session with them. We did what’s known as a “day after” session (although I had that term!), in which Angie and Phil got dressed up in their wedding finery again, and we hit the town. It was my first of these sessions, but I found it very fun and such a great idea, whether I’m shooting your wedding or not. You’re able to shoot in locations that you might not be able to get to during your wedding, and there is so much less stress than on the actual day of. These sessions can be done, as Angie and Phil did, literally the day after your wedding, but they can really be done any time you might want to take the dress out for another spin.

At any rate, here are some of my favourites from their session. The lighting was so cinematic, so a lot of these are just photos that make the photographer in me get excited, even if they’re more abstract or non-traditional.

Love the little highlight on the feathers:

This is not the most perfect shot as traffic was rapidly coming toward us, but the sun was so insane. It was like Chicago had been dipped in gold.

Love the rings!

Favourite by far. Would love to see this huge.
