After a wedding at Architectural Artifacts last fall, I could not wait to shoot there again. Eric and Kellie fortunately contacted me about shooting their wedding at the space. I was also so pleasantly surprised to find out that there were being married on the outdoor patio; I have never seen any photos of a ceremony outdoor there and didn’t even know it was a possibility. Venues with an outdoor ceremony option in Chicago-proper are almost non-existent, so needless to say it was a rare treat to photograph in the daylight. Eric and Kellie also had a relaxed Jewish ceremony, with four of their friends holding up the chuppah; it was such a nice touch, and I really loved the idea of your friends surrounding and covering you as you take the vows. There were so many other things I loved about this wedding: Kellie’s beautiful gown that she accessorized herself with a little belt, a brooch in the back, and a beautiful feather and gold hairpin; Eric shoes and purple socks; our fabulous portrait locations (so happy with these); and their wonderful families (both so kind and so funny).

Please do not repost these on another wedding blog just yet. If you are interested in running or using them please just drop me a note! - O
I was shooting all over this winter and spring, so it was wonderful to kick off my Chicago weddings with Nate and Sandra’s incredible wedding at one of my favourite venues, Prairie Productions. Nate and Sandra also deserve a gold star, as they planned this wedding in about three months, start to finish, and really truly put together one of the best days with one of the best vendors. It was wonderful to get to know their kind and fun families and also see them looking so glamorous; Nate looked incredibly dapper in his suit and Sandra was beautiful in a Vera Wang gown accentuated with a beautiful assortment of gorgeous crystal pins in her modern updo and art deco earrings from Steve Quick. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your wonderful wedding!
Other great vendors involved in the day: DJ: Max at Style Matters // Strings (just beautiful!): Parkwest Strings // Florist: Kloeckner Preferred Flowers // Cupcakes: Luscious Layers Bakery // Officiant: Bruce Otto // Catering: Food for Thought // Dress: Vera Wang // Venue: Prairie Productions

Chicago has no shortage of unique wedding loft venues to be married. I love the look of a loft-like space for an event, as it generally allows couples so much room for personalization and customization in their design. Clients that are attracted to these type of spaces are often a great match for my style, with both blending sophistication with a personal, chic and urban feel.

Prairie Production was the setting for Sandra and Nate’s beautiful wedding in 2010. The space’s clean, white backdrop makes for a crisp, modern look, but can also be easily styled with the addition of lighting.
Below are some of my favorite urban loft-like spaces in the city:
PRAIRIE PRODUCTION
1314 West Randolph Street, Chicago, Illinois 60607
Prairie is a favorite space of mine, as the clean white setting feels so modern and chic. Styling options are really limitless here, with minimal decor still feeling appropriate and stylish, while also serving as a blank slate for couples who want to start from square one for design.
ROOM 1520
1520 W. Fulton Ave. Chicago, IL 60607
Room 1520 is another sophisticated loft option for the stylish, modern couple. With beautiful, clean, white decor and chic chandeliers, this space offers couples a blank canvas to create their dream wedding environment and is one of my favourite to shoot at.
CHICAGO ILLUMINATING COMPANY
19 East 21st Street, Chicago, IL 60616-1701
Chicago Illuminating Company is a stunning and chic venue that I think is hard to beat for couples that want a modern and unique space while still having a very sophisticated edge to it. With spaces for each portion of your event, this is a wonderful transitional space that allows guests to move throughout, creating a beautiful flow to the day.
RIVER EAST ART CENTER
435 E Illinois St., Chicago, IL 60611
For a larger wedding, River East Art Center is a stunning wedding venue option in Chicago. Unlike many modern spaces, REAC is located right downtown, a perfect setting for couples seeking to give guests a true Chicago experience.
GALLERY 1028
1028 North Hooker, Chicago, IL 60642
Gallery 1028 is a beautiful new addition to the venue options in Chicago. A clean slate with a open layout makes it a perfect space to put your impact on, whether it be a casual, relaxed event, or a luxe, heavily-designed affair.
