Anni + Ross

Anni and Ross are high school sweethearts who are now in college in Lincoln Park. They have created such a lovely little life for themselves, with a gorgeous apartment in Lakeview, an often-used kitchen, and a sweet dog named Sunday. I hadn’t met them before this session, but I was so happy to be able to work with them. They are such a cute couple, and both just radiate joy; I don’t think I have ever had a couple laugh so much and so openly throughout a shoot. Anni also completely turned it out with the chicest little outfit (skirt from Roslyn), and combined with perfect weather and a gorgeous sunset, I have trouble imagining a better shoot.

Kristen + Scott :: Connection Session

Kristen and Scott another favourite 2010 couple, getting married later this year in Old Town with a reception at the gorgeous Modern Wing at the Art Institute. We spent an early morning together recently, shooting their connection session around their home in the Gold Coast, talking about architecture, french fries and Obama, and doing a lot of laughing.

Sarah + John :: Urban Chicago connection session

This session was so wonderful, and Sarah and John did such a fantastic job. I met Sarah over a year ago, and was instantly so excited to shoot her wedding, knowing that it would be chic and stylish based on her fashion-forward outfit. I met John at the session, and really enjoyed being able to shoot them together. They are such a fun couple who really complement each other so well, and as you can see, Sarah didn’t disappoint with the attire. I was excited to be back shooting in the more urban areas I just love, and we also got in some of the Banksy artwork before it is inevitably washed away by the city. So many selects from this session; so hard to choose! I cannot wait for their lounge-style evening wedding this fall at one of my favourite venues, the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Chicago Engagement Connection Session – Carolyn + Brian at the Lake

Carolyn manages events and weddings at a hotel in downtown Chicago, so I was naturally so flattered when asked to shoot her own wedding this October at Loft on Lake. We first met through the wedding community, but over the year-plus that I have known her, she has grown to be more of a friend in business and life! She and her great fiance, Brian, were engaged at Belmont Harbor, so we decided to revist a few spots along the lake before the sky opened up and the rain poured down. Carolyn also brought along her little girl, Miss Lilly, the tiniest little terrier you’ve ever seen for a few portraits, though her shyness got the best of her.

Jen + Brendan :: Chicago connection session

Jen and Brendan were the first couple to book me for 2010, well over a year ago. I hadn’t seen them in the course of that time, so it was wonderful to meet up with them for a very cold, very early morning connection session. Jen and Brendan are both working toward their Ph.D.s, and met at a bar/venue that has played a role in many of my couple’s relationships, The Hideout. We had such a wonderful time exploring some unusual areas for their session; lots of laughing always yields great photos, and I can’t wait to capture more at their wedding next month at A New Leaf.

Chicago engagement connection session :: Nate + Sandra

Sandra and Nate win the award of being my first Chicago wedding of the year. They are getting married in two weeks at Prairie Productions, one of my favourite venues to shoot at. Sandra and Nate enjoy photography as a hobby, and shared with me some of their photos from a little photo walk they did around more industrial neighborhoods in the area. We decided to take a cue from those images, and shot in areas similar to what had inspired them.
