About Olivia Leigh Photographie
Olivia Leigh Photographie is a boutique wedding photography studio serving clients around the world. From the time she began shooting weddings nine years ago, Olivia quickly made a name for herself for her blend of impeccably captured moments mixed with authentic and artistic portraits. Known for her easy demeanor, warm personality and extensive professional knowledge (she’s been called the the “sixth bridesmaid who had been to a million weddings and knew exactly what the bride needs” by past clients), clients often remark on her innate ability to read a celebration and capture the real personalities and emotion of you and your guests. With a background in art photography, Olivia brings her artistic eye and strong interpersonal skills to each wedding to ensure you receive beautiful, intimate and meaningful images from your celebration. Living in Chicago but traveling frequently to Seattle and NYC, Olivia has photographed everything from 500 person Indian weddings in downtown Chicago to a wedding at a private home in the British countryside for 20 family members. In 2014, Martha Stewart Weddings named her one of the top photographers in the country — the only one based in Illinois and one of only five in the Midwest — and her work has graced the pages of BRIDES US, UK and China; The Knot; 100 Layer Cake; Style Me Pretty; Ruffled; Grace Ormonde; and many other major wedding publications.
In Her Own Words
After interning in Congress and for a think tank in DC, I photographed a friend’s wedding in 2007 on a whim. I instantly fell in love with the opportunity to tell the stories of a family’s celebration. My approach is built on a foundation of artistry + authenticity. There is no point of one without the other in my book. My goal with each client is to deliver a multifaceted collection that, above all else, captures the nuances of your relationship in an authentic and beautiful way, and also truthfully documents the joy and emotion of your celebration. I strive to push more artistry into the documentary—capturing you tearing up as your friend gives a toast, but always looking for a unique and thoughtful composition. Simultaneously, I try to infuse more authenticity into artistic portraits by laying the groundwork with hand-picked locations, and then allowing you to have real interactions, real laughter and real joy that allows for photographs that will resonate with you 20 years from now.
When I’m not shooting, I spend most of my time writing and performing sketch comedy in Chicago. I also love dancing (and will probably be dancing it up with your guests while I photograph them at the reception!), traveling the world (Laos, Hong Kong and San Sebastian are some of my favorites), exploring amazing restaurants, spending time with my rescue pup, and renovating a 100 year old condo in West Town.
